Total Maximum Daily Load

A TMDL, or Total Maximum Daily Load, identifies the amount of pollutant that a waterbody can absorb without violating water quality standards for drinking, swimming, and other uses.

The pollutants of Hinkson Creek are unknown at this time, and the impairment is listed as urban runoff.

The impaired section on Hinkson Creek begins at I-70 and flows 14 miles through the City of Columbia to where Hinkson Creek joins Perche Creek.

A draft copy of the Hinkson Creek TMDL is available for public comment beginning March 8, 2010 and ending April 22, 2010.

To obtain a copy: Copies of the Hinkson Creek TMDL may be obtained by calling the department’s Water Protection Program at 800-361-4827 or 573-751-6623.   

         

Invitation to comment: The interested public is encouraged to participate in this process if they have concerns regarding the content of this document or if they would like to provide written support for the process.  The program will accept written comments regarding the Hinkson Creek TMDL through April 22, 2010.
