Thanks so much to all of our fabulous volunteers for making this year's Hinkson Clean Sweep such a success! We really appreciate everyone coming out and being ready and willing to get in, get dirty, and get all that trash out of our creeks! Some brave souls pulled out some very interesting items, some labored away at digging out embedded tires and more large, heavy debris, and all contributed to the much-improved condition these streams are in today! So thank you for all your efforts and for committing a few hours on a gorgeous Saturday to making our community a better place for us all!
We would especially like to thank our site captains for their service in leading the group at their site and for helping us stay organized. This is a responsible position and we really appreciate every site captain for being willing to assist and for taking on that responsibility!
Special thanks go to all of our sponsors as well for their part in making this a possibility!
If you took pictures while "Sweeping", we'd love for you to share them on Facebook!
Why is litter pick up so important to Columbia? Each piece of street litter finds its way to our watersheds and affects the environment around the world!
The Hinkson Clean Sweep is a city-wide stream cleanup event where volunteers work together to clean area streams that are part of the Hinkson watershed. The result is a healthier watershed and attractive community. Volunteers are provided with mesh and trash bags. Sites are led with trained volunteers and supporting staff. Select the location appropriate for you, your family, organization or group. Everyone can participate! Handicapped accessible locations are available.
